Expert Council
The Expert Council is one of the brain's most powerful features. It assembles a panel of domain experts to help you think through decisions, strategies, and challenges using the Six Thinking Hats methodology.
How to Start a Council
/expert-council
Claude will ask you to describe your question or decision. For example:
- "Should I specialize in ecommerce or lead gen?"
- "How should I price my new service?"
- "Is it worth investing in video content?"
- "Should I hire or outsource?"
How It Works
- You describe your question - Be specific about what you're deciding
- Claude selects experts - It picks relevant domain experts for your topic (marketing strategists, business advisors, industry specialists, etc.)
- Structured deliberation - Each expert shares their perspective using the Six Thinking Hats framework:
- White Hat - Facts and data
- Red Hat - Gut feelings and intuition
- Black Hat - Risks and caution
- Yellow Hat - Benefits and optimism
- Green Hat - Creative alternatives
- Blue Hat - Process and summary
- Summary and recommendation - Claude synthesizes the discussion into actionable advice
What Gets Saved
Council deliberations are automatically saved to data/council-outputs/ with:
- The question you asked
- Which experts participated
- The full deliberation
- Date and metadata
This means you can reference past councils and track how your thinking evolved.
/expert-followup
After a council, you might want to dig deeper into one expert's perspective. Use:
/expert-followup
This loads the council context and lets you continue a one-on-one conversation with a specific expert from the panel.
For example, after a council on pricing strategy, you might follow up with the pricing expert: "Tell me more about value-based pricing for my specific situation."
Tips for Better Councils
- Be specific - "Should I raise prices?" works, but "Should I raise my monthly retainer from $3k to $5k given that I'm delivering 3x ROAS for most clients?" works much better
- Provide context - The more Claude knows about your situation, the better the experts can advise
- Follow up - Use /expert-followup to dig into the perspective that resonated most
- Save good ones - Council outputs are auto-saved, but you can also screenshot or copy the parts that were most useful
Adding Custom Experts
You can add your own expert personas to the council. This lets you simulate perspectives from specific thought leaders, mentors, or even your own clients.
